Haywire
Directed by Dave Bennet
haywire: adj, informal – erratic; out of control; crazy!
Giffnock Theatre Players proudly present Haywire, a farcical comedy by Eric Chappell, the BAFTA award-winning author of the classic comedy Rising Damp!
Set in a living room above a book shop, Haywire centres around married bookseller Alec Firth, who is having an affair with his assistant, Liz. The pair are desperate to get away on a holiday to Spain without arousing the suspicions of Alec’s wife Maggie, and careful plans have been put in place. What could possibly go wrong?
Plenty! – as their attempts are thwarted by a series of knocks at the door from demanding family members.
And before they know it…..Everything’s gone HAYWIRE!
At the rehearsals, the backstage crew have been in stitches watching the actors and director, David Bennet, develop this already-funny play into a comic masterpiece. There’s something for everyone in this comedy, but Alec’s cantankerous mother Phoebe, played by Kate McNeil, is sure to be found especially hilarious.
Haywire runs at Eastwood Park Theatre in Giffnock from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st January 2015 at 7.30pm. In addition, there is a matinee at 2.30pm on Saturday.
Tickets are priced at £13, with an £11 concession ticket available, as well as discounts for group bookings. They can be purchased by phoning 07518 201756 or 0141 577 4956; emailing tickets-gtp@hotmail.co.uk; or from the Eastwood Park Theatre box office at www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk/boxoffice.
