Adapted by Wendy Kesselman from the real-life diary of 13-year-old Anne Frank, who chronicled the experience of her Jewish family’s life in hiding in Nazi-occupied Holland.

On stage, Anne Frank emerges from history as a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, confronting her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination.

An impassioned story about the lives of eight people hiding from Nazi persecution in a concealed storage attic, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence — their fears, their hopes, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death!”

The Diary of Anne Frank is in two acts and takes place in the attic of Mr Frank’s former business place in Amsterdam between July 1942 and August 1944.

A special thank you goes out to the following:

Glasgow Stage Crew Ltd for providing the platform to create the attic space where Anne and the others lived when they were forced into hiding.

Janice at JJ & Lolli for making the cover of Anne’s diary.

Marion Nolan for making Anne’s scarf that she had made for her father in the attic but that he only finds when he returns after the war.
